A Three Card Monte
effect in three phases.
Required
Sleights: Multiple push; Double Lift; Two Card Monte Move; Flustration
Shuffle
Phase I
1. Remove
the Ace of Spades, Ace of Hearts and the Ace of Clubs from your deck and
arrange them in that order top to bottom face down. On the table to your left have a book of matches (the fuller the
better) or a large paper clip. Hold the
cards face down in your left hand.
2. Showing
all three cards to be alike: Turn
the top card (AS) face up and then turn F.D.
Multiple push the top two cards as one to the right and place two as one
on the bottom of the packet. Multiple
push the top two cards as one and turn these face up showing the ace of spades
again. Turn these cards face down and
place the top card only onto the bottom of the packet. Show the top card to be the ace of spades
and place this card on the bottom of the packet.
3. Showing
two cards to be alike: Multiple
push the top two cards as one and turn over showing the Ace of Clubs. Turn these two as one face down and deal the
top card only onto the table. Now turn
the second card, the ace of clubs, face up and turn it face down and deal this
onto the tabled card. Show the final
card, the ace of spades and deal this onto the tabled cards.
4. Pick
up the cards from the table and hold them face down in your left hand. Double lift and turn these two as one face
up and then turn them face down and deal the top card onto the table. Turn the top card over showing the Ace of
Clubs and deal this card face down onto the tabled card. Show the last card to be the ace of hearts
and turn this face down and place this onto the tabled cards. Pick up the tabled cards and hold them face
down in your left hand. Now deal the
cards one at a time face up onto the table displaying the ace of hearts, ace of
clubs and the ace of spades.
Phase II
5. Showing
the ace of hearts not where they think it should be: Pick up the tabled
cards and hold them face down in your left hand dealing position. Turn the top card face up showing the ace of
hearts then turn it face down onto the packet and multiple push the top two as
one into the right hand and place these two as on onto the bottom of the
packet. Turn the entire packet face up
with your right hand to show the bottom card is the ace of clubs and not the
ace of hearts. Replace the packet into
dealing position in your left hand.
Your right index finger draws the top card back (in jog) slightly then,
applying pressure to the second card, pushes both cards back up (out jogging
the second card) squaring the top and bottom cards as you do this. The fingers of the left hand 'strips out'
the middle card. Holding two cards as
one in your right hand, turn the two cards as one face up to reveal the ace of
clubs again. Replace these two cards as
one onto the face down card in the left hand.
Spread the cards and extract the middle card to show the ace of clubs
once again.
6. Showing
the ace of hearts can be manipulated:
Repeat Step#5 to reveal the ace of hearts in three separate locations of
the packet.
Phase III
7. Fan
the three cards to reveal the ace of hearts in the middle of the packet. Pick up the book of matches from the table
and openly place the matches on the left side of the ace of hearts so that the
larger part of the matchbook is on the back of the card and overlapping the ace
of spades in the fan. Lower the left hand
and show that the matches are on the center card. Elevate the left hand and openly remove the face card (ace of
spades) from the fan and place this face down onto the table. Place the ace of hearts with the matchbook
onto the table to the left. The ace of
spades is placed on top of the other ace on the table to the right.
8. Pick
up the two tabled cards and execute the FLUSTRATION SHUFFLE, which will show
two black aces on the right of the table.
After this is accomplished, retain the ace of clubs in the right hand
and pick up the tabled ace of hearts casually flash the face of this card. Pass the card in your right hand over the
back of the card in your left hand but under the matchbook, demonstrating a
poorly executed subterfuge. This will
condition your audience to believe that the red card was in fact where you
placed it onto the table.
9.
Turn over the ace of hearts and the ace of clubs to show how the gambler
had cheated them.
10. Repeat
#7, however, this time execute the TWO CARD MONTE move, which places the
matchbook onto the ace of spades. Place
the ace of hearts onto the tabled ace of clubs. Execute the FLUSTRATION SHUFFLE once again showing two black aces
on your right. Make a magical gesture
and turn the card with the matchbook over revealing the ace of spades. The right hand now turns over the remaining
cards on the table showing the ace of hearts on the right side of the table.
