AN OIL AND WATER EFFECT

REQUIRED SLEIGHTS:          BIDDLE COUNT     JORDAN COUNT    ELMSLEY COUNT

SET-UP:  FOUR KINGS AND FOUR QUEENS FACE-UP, TOP TO BOTTOM:

PHASE I

            1.     Hold the packet face-up (F.U.) in your right hand (R.H.).  The left thumb draws off the face card of the packet onto the left palm (Q.D.).  Repeat for the Q.S.  Maintain a break as you draw off the Q.H. (modified BIDDLE COUNT)  As the left thumb draws off the Q.C., the R.H. steals back the Q.H.  Continue this action of drawing off kings until K.C. (with the Q.H. below).  Drop these two cards as one F.U. onto the packet.

        2.     Turn the packed F.D. and turn the top card (Q.D.) F.U. and place it onto the table to your left.  Deal the next three cards F.D. left to right next to the F.U. Q.D.  (Card to the extreme right is K.D.)

        3.     JORDAN COUNT kings in left hand F.D. then turn this packet F.U. (you should now be looking at the K.H. and execute an ELMSLEY COUNT.  This shows two red and two black kings.)  Immediately turn packet F.D. and spread cards into a F.D. fan.

        4.     Pick up the first F.D. queen (next to the F.U. queen) and insert F.D. in the middle of the    packet of cards.  Do your thing and show top card to be a queen and place this onto the table F.U..  Turn the packet F.U. and ELMSLEY COUNT to show all the kings.  Repeat this step for the two remaining F.D. cards. (*Note*:  Even though the last card is a king, ELMSLEY COUNT the last time to show kings, but spread them to show the king of diamonds.  This will confuse any spectator who may have noticed two king of hearts.

5.     **check point**  All of the queens should now be face up on the table in this order:

                         1                          2                         3                            4

The kings are displayed in the left hand, face up in the following order:

        6.     Pick up the queens face up in this order: (2)  (4)    (3)    (1)  and the place them F.U. on the F.U. kings.

        7.     Take the top F.U. queen and turn it face down against the second F.U. queen (QH F.D. QC F.U.).  Continue alternating F.U. and F.D. until the cards are mixed (?).  Four cards will be face up and four cards face down.

        8.     Obtain a break under the top four F.D. cards and turn these cards F.U. and spread the cards to show the first mix.

        9.     Repeat #'s 7 & 8 and spread the cards to show matched suits.  Leave the cars fanned and reverse the queens in the fan.

        10.   Close the fan and repeat the action of #7, starting this time turning the top F.D. queen F.U., etc.  (Cards should be face up at completion of this move)  Turn the packet F.D. and fan the cards face down.

11.   R.H. takes the top four cards (kings).  The left hand takes the bottom four cards (queens).

12.   Turn the right hand over revealing the kings.

      13.   Turn the left hand over revealing the queens.
